At every level of competition, kids play hockey to have fun, and getting hurt is not fun. The insurance Goals Program includes the Equipment Safety Manual. A companion piece to the Equipment Safety Videos below, the Manual gives parents the safety information they need prior to purchasing or upgrading their child's hockey equipment. Coaches can also share the downloaded information with their players throughout the season.
This video series was produced by the WHL featuring Steve "Hilty" Hildebrand, Assistant General Manager of the Saskatoon Blades. In each video Steve explains and demonstrates how to choose and fit equipment to reduce the chance of injury. "With two kids of my own, I know how important it is to have the right fit for every kid," Hildebrand says. "Many injuries can be prevented with equipment that fits properly. The best-fitting and most comfortable equipment doesn't have to be the most expensive."
Participating brokerages in in each of the four western provinces held jersey contests during the 2015/16 WHL regular season. Jersey winners' names were entered into a Grand Prize draw in each province for a trip to the 2016 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
Congratulations to all our jersey winners. Four Grand Prize winners have each won an expense-paid trip for two to the 2016 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Red Deer. The trips included airfare, accommodation, game tickets and spending money.
