Player Safety Videos
Improper fitting equipment can expose a young player to potential injuries which is why it is very important to give them the best protection. That starts with the right information. The Insurance Goals Program provides both video and electronic download versions of the information that all players should be aware of.
This 21 chapter video series (including 7 for goaltenders) will guide you through the basic safety information to help avoid injury. This series was produced by the WHL featuring Steve "Hilty" Hildebrand, Assistant General Manager of the Saskatoon Blades. In each video Steve explains and demonstrates how to choose and fit equipment to reduce the chance of injury. "With two kids of my own, I know how important it is to have the right fit for every kid," Hildebrand says. "Many injuries can be prevented with equipment that fits properly. The best-fitting and most comfortable equipment doesn't have to be the most expensive." In these videos, ‘Hilty’ with the help of WHL players and a couple of his own children, will guide you through the step by step process of proper fit.
Player Safety MANUAL
A companion piece to the videos, the Manual gives families the safety information they need prior to purchasing or upgrading their child’s hockey equipment. The information is available here to download so it can be easily shared with their players throughout the season.
INSURANCE GOALS OF THE GAME
If you can’t see them in person then catch the insurance goals and highlight goals compiled from WHL games across Western Canada. They’re available here throughout the WHL regular season.
BROKERS GET INVOLVED
Insurance brokers have been involved with minor hockey in Western Canada before there were indoor rinks. Brokers directly sponsor and support thousands of teams with both their financial resources and volunteered time. As well, each provincial broker association plays an important role supporting amateur team events.
IBAM
IBAM and its member brokers have long been supporters of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and Manitoba professional and minor hockey in general. Brokers are involved at every level – from coaching their kid's teams to being sponsors of local teams, arenas and annual tournaments – MB brokers are ever present in their communities. IBAS
IBAS is proud to support both the WHL and SJHL. We've expanded our partnership with the SJHL to sponsor the Top Defenseman of the Year Trophy, which ties into the concept of 'protection'. IBAA
IBAA brokers sponsor the Mac's AAA Midget's Tournament and have in the past sponsored the Insurance Goal of the Game through the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
